Our goal is to provide fellowship, education and support
in our research about the history and genealogy
in regions where the German language and culture was or is prevalent.
The Southwest Florida Germanic Genealogy Society Inc. (formerly known as The Southwest Florida Germanic Genealogy Research Group) was launched by a few local genealogy friends who were doing Germanic research. We knew of small German study groups in the various genealogy societies in southwest Florida, but in the area overall, there was little or no interaction between these groups to foster learning from each other.

We normally met on the first Saturday of the months of January, March, May, September and November from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meetings are currently being held in Room C at The Mid-County Regional Library located at 2050 Forrest Nelson Boulevard, Port Charlotte. Come early (about 10:00 a.m.), bring your lunch and enjoy our fellowship and networking opportunities.
There is always a program of interest to our researchers and plenty of time for questions and sharing of information. Additionally, our website keeps members up-to-the-minute on our news.
